Derek started his aviation career with the Ministry of Defense at the Royal Air Force in St. Athan, South Wales. 24 years later, he has covered many aspects of the aerospace industry, including a 5 year tour in the Middle East as a Crew Chief for Military Fighters.

Following 3 years with VC-10 NATO tankers, he headed for Canada where he joined Bombardier in Toronto on the Dash-8 400 Mod line. Derek then spent 5 years as a Supervisor of the Preflight Department at the Bombardier Completion Center in Montreal, where he was responsible for planning and scheduling aircraft through Completions and flight tests.

Derek is an AME license holder with endorsement on the Global Express. He joined ACL as Manager Technical Completions in December 2004.
